This weeks class was observation — and things we have seen and been around all our lives – but do we REALLY see them — you’d be surprised, and both classes were. I found a 1930s art book and in it the author said … “We go through life – but are we really seeing the beauty of the world?”
With travel sketching you do — why? — because you connect.
Tuesday and Saturdays class had fun and surprise exploring this truth. With lots of great opportunities to explore we did some great class work, then headed down to Devonport town complete with pen and paint to sketch our ‘everyday shapes’ connecting wheels to forks — pedals to sprockets and handlebars, seats to frame — ah thats more like it.
By the way good coffee at Manuka and Devon on the Wharf where we continued our sketching — of course it doesn’t stop with the coffee 🙂
